Pepsin is the main protease of vertebrate gastric juice. It is extracted from healthy porcine gastric mucosa and made after drying and porphyrizing.

Properties: it is white or light yellow amorphous powder with a special meat and slightly sour smell. It is soluble in water, hygroscopic. The aqueous solution shows acidity.

Activity is 1:3000 u/g. Residue is less than 5.0%. Loss on drying is less than 5.0%.
Function and Usage: It can be used as a digestant. It is a digest protein. It is used for indigestion which is caused by lack of pepsin or digestive function reduced after an illness.
Note: it is prohibited to mix with basic drugs.
